Directionality of physical and psychological dating violence among adolescents in Recife, Brazil. The aim was to investigate the physical and psychological dating violence among adolescents with respect to the profiles of directionality – only man perpetrates, only woman perpetrates, and bidirectional, ie, both perpetrate violence. Sample was performed by two-stage cluster selection in public and private school in the city of Recife PE , Brazil, presenting data on adolescents of both sexes between 15 and 19 years old. Statistical analyzes incorporated the sampling weight and the complex sample design. Violence is bidirectional in most forms studied It was concluded that adolescent dating violence shows a pattern where partners attack each other, both physically and psychologically. Future research should study the patterns of these acts of violence, keeping the adolescent couple as the unit of analysis and exploring the context in which such violence occurs.

The analysis of masculinity has been a topic of growing interest in recent decades. Its study has incorporated a wide and diverse range of research areas and themes, including the representation of gender relations and identities on the Internet. Specifically, this article concerns the research area related to online dating websites and aims to compare the principal current tendencies related to identity -as provided by research on masculinity- with the way that men present themselves on two Spanish dating websites: Meetic.
These types of virtual spaces have specific characteristics that facilitate the analysis of the masculine ideal among their users; or at least the characteristics that these men consider attractive to women. This research was carried out through a qualitative analysis supported by Atlas-ti. The principal results highlight the presence of traces of the so called egalitarian masculinity within predominant forms of traditional masculinity, characterized by a minimal process of reflection and introspection on the part of users of these websites.

Quartz is the datable component in mortar. Although its luminescence properties are very well studied, the problem of mortar dating arises from a low level of optical bleaching. In order to reduce the time consuming efforts for dating lime mortar in monuments by optically stimulated luminescence, we investigated the most suitable methods of dose and dose rate determination, and we explored tests which are suitable to predict the datability of a given material.
Reverting to the large number of publications on sedimentary partially bleached quartz we found linear modulation techniques especially useful, equally we also recommend the determination of the level of optical depletion before starting analyses. Single grain analysis is regarded as an ultimate but infallible tool to date very poorly bleached quartz from mortar. Dose rate measurements need to take into account the radioactive equilibrium of the uranium decay and the short range inhomogeneity of the environmental gamma radiation field: gamma spectrometry and on-site TLD measurements are best suited.
An autapomorphy—a state unique to one terminal taxon or Operational Taxonomic Unit OTU; Mishler, —contributes one step to any possible topology. Therefore, autapomorphies are routinely excluded from further analysis in cladistics programs e. Tip-dating analyses might be expected to be particularly sensitive to autapomorphies: all autapomorphies occur on terminal branches by definition, so their exclusion will shorten the morphological branchlengths of terminal branches and thus presumably their time branchlengths , and perhaps increase estimated branch-wise rate variation.
Datasets appropriate for doing so are rare because they need to systematically collect all autapomorphies, as well as dates for the OTUs. Surprisingly, no effect on dates was found. This might be due to the non-clocklike nature of the dataset, an explanation we confirm with a simulation study that shows autapomorphy exclusion biases terminal branchlength estimates when the data are highly clocklike, but not in a non-clock dataset. We also examine the M k parsinf correction and show that it scales poorly for characters with more than two states, limiting its usability.
The date ranges for OTUs were derived from the literature, following best practices guidelines Parham et al. Correlation between time and morphological branchlengths in a TNT parsimony analysis was used as a rough assessment of clocklike behavior for further description of all methods, as well as all data and scripts used, see Supplemental Information.
Tip-dating in Beast2 Bouckaert et al. Three different site models were used: M k , M k v, and M k parsinf. Due to the small number of tests, no multiple-test correction was used.

Research among adults has shown that younger age is a consistent risk factor for experiencing and perpetrating intimate partner violence. However, no representative epidemiologic studies of lifetime prevalence of dating violence among adolescents have been conducted. After controlling for the effects of potentially confounding demographics and risk behaviors, data from both surveys indicate that physical and sexual dating violence against adolescent girls is associated with increased risk of substance use eg, cocaine use for , odds ratio [OR], 4.
Intimate partner violence IPV against women is a major public health concern. Estimates from a recent large-scale, nationally representative survey 1 indicate that more than 1. Research among adults has shown that younger age is a consistent risk factor for experiencing and perpetrating IPV.
The thermoluminescence “ages” of a large and representative selection of limestone specimens from the Thai-Malayan geosyncline, ranging in stratigraphic age.
GSA Bulletin ; 79 3 : — It is deduced that the revolutionary phase of the orogeny extended from early Triassic to early Cretaceous; folding of the geosynclinal sediments and accompanying recrystallization of the limestones terminated in late Jurassic, but granitic activity extended to early Cretaceous. A post-orogenic phase of granitic intrusion, accompanied by secondary calcite veining of the limestones, occurred in early Tertiary and appears to be confined to a narrow zone along the western margins of the Main Range batholith.

In this study, an improved lead—radium dating technique provided independent age estimates from sagittal otoliths. This technique used the known properties of radioactivity for lead and radium to determine the validity of fish age estimates. An improvement to lead—radium dating using mass spectrometry allowed the use of smaller samples than previously possible; therefore, an application was made to otolith cores, the first few years of otolith growth.
This approach circumvented the use of whole otoliths and alleviated many of the assumptions that were necessary in previous lead—radium dating applications. Hence, it was possible to critically evaluate lead—radium dating as a tool in fish age validation.
